"Queen" – The Great Ship of Henry III (1225). This vivid painting by Charles Edward Dixon depicts Queen, the great ship of King Henry III, launched in 1225. Weighing 250 tons and carrying no guns, Queen represents an early medieval warship powered by sail and manpower. The artwork captures the ship in battle, showcasing its towering masts, vivid heraldic banners, and wooden forecastles packed with archers and soldiers. This illustration appeared in Britannia's Bulwarks (c. 1920 edition), celebrating the long maritime heritage of Britain.
