HMS Howe Being Towed into Emsenada de la Malata by HMS Seahorse. This painting captures the salvage of HMS Howe after running aground on Ferrol Rock on 2 November 1892 while serving in the Mediterranean. Initially deemed beyond repair, the crew was transferred to HMS Royal Sovereign. However, a challenging salvage effort succeeded, and in April 1893, HMS Seahorse towed Howe into Ferrol, assisted by salvage steamers.
The artwork shows Seahorse on the far left, pulling Howe with a visible tow rope, as water pours from the damaged battleship. Small boats surround the vessel during this delicate operation. Signed by A. Sanz and dated 1893.
