Dutch Flagship and Other Vessels | Hendrik Rietschoof | 1700

The scene centers on a flagship with a lavishly carved golden stern, likely depicting Hercules bowed under the weight of the world, suggesting the ship may be named Hercules. Flanking Hercules are carvings that could represent his attributes related to astronomy, symbolizing a favorable image for a ship. The Dutch flag flies from the stern and mast, along with a pennant.
