This artwork by Robert Havell Sr. (1769–1832) depicts the Battle of Fort Oswego on 6 May 1814, a key War of 1812 engagement on Lake Ontario. British forces under Commodore Sir James Lucas Yeo launched a combined naval and land assault against the American garrison commanded by George Edward Mitchell. After a sharp fight, the British secured victory, capturing valuable supplies and weakening American naval capabilities on the lake.
