This photo captures the British Antarctic expedition ship Terra Nova beside a towering iceberg fringed with long icicles. Photographed by Herbert George Ponting during Captain Robert Falcon Scott's 1910–1913 expedition, the image highlights the stark beauty and immense scale of Antarctica while documenting one of the most famous polar explorations in history.
