The Danish ship of the line the”Frederik den Sjette“ in a gale. The 84-gun Frederik den Sjette was built in 1831 and spent the next 30 years anchored at the naval base Holmen in Copenhagen. Then, during a war scare in 1861, she was commissioned, and again during the second Schleswig war in 1864. This painting would be from the 1861 commission.
