A States Yacht in a Fresh Breeze Running Towards a Group of Dutch Ships. A group of Dutch ships are gathered under a stormy sky, likely representing the Dutch fleet off the Texel in 1672. The scene includes a fishing pink with six people aboard, possibly marking a shipping channel, and a bezan yacht beyond it. A man-of-war is firing a salute. In the foreground, a sprit-rigged States yacht, possibly of the States-General, is shown in starboard-quarter view, with distinctive flags and a shield bearing the lion of the United Netherlands. The yacht is heading towards de Ruyter's flagship, the 'Zeven Provincien,' which is identifiable by its flags and the men furling sails on its yards. Other ships are seen in the distance, with another States yacht firing a salute as it passes the 'Zeven Provincien.'
